A woman is dead after she was hit by a truck while she was on the side of a highway north of Edmonton.
Athabasca RCMP received reports of a 911 call of a vehicle collision on Highway 2 south of Athabasca Tuesday afternoon, a news release said Wednesday.
An initial investigation found a pick-up truck had been parked on the side of the road after an item fell out of the vehicle’s box. A 58-year-old woman from Perryvale got out of the vehicle and while she was outside the truck was put in motion, police said. The pick-up hit the woman and emergency services were called.
EMS provided first aid but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP are continuing to investigate.
Athabasca is approximately 150 kilometres north of Edmonton.
