Mounties have charged a 38-year-old Redwater man with committing an indecent act following complaints of someone exposing themselves to passing vehicles.

RCMP responded to a call about a man committing an indecent act while parked on the side of the road near the Opal water station just before 11 a.m. last Thursday. Police said in a Monday news release that several victims reported a man performing an indecent act while exposing himself to passing vehicles.

Police were able to locate the man and arrest him without incident after a traffic stop. Police said a small amount of methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.

Andrew Hawkins is charged with committing an indecent act in public and possessing a controlled substance.

He was released after a court hearing. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 17 in Fort Saskatchewan provincial court.
