Motorcyclist dead after collision north of Edmonton

A motorcyclist is dead after single vehicle collision in Smoky Lake County.

Smoky Lake RCMP responded to reports of the collision near Highway 831 north of the North Saskatchewan River near Victoria Trail around 2:50 p.m. Saturday, a news release said later in the day.

Police arrived at the scene alongside EMS where a 46-year-old woman from Fort McMurray was pronounced dead. An early investigation found the woman was travelling north on Highway 831 when she lost control and hit a guard rail.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Smoky Lake is approximately 117 kilometres northeast of Edmonton
