A man has been charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of a Little Red River Cree Nation teenager.
Fort Vermillion RCMP received information on July 12 that clothing was found near John D’Or Prairie on the “old Fox Lake” road. A search in the area led to human remains being found and an autopsy on July 15 confirmed they belonged to 15-year-old Roderica Ribbonleg who had been missing since July 5.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit announced in a news release Thursday that a man from John D’Or Prairie was charged with first-degree murder on Aug. 19 in relation to the case.
RCMP are continuing to investigate the case and are asking the public to come forward with any information they may have.
Jason Alec Tallcree has been charged with first-degree murder. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in High Level Provincial Court on Aug. 24.
John D’Or Prairie is approximately 750 kilometres north of Edmonton.
