Homicide detectives are investigating what may be the city’s latest killing after a man found injured in a north Edmonton hotel parking lot Wednesday morning died in hospital.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) were called around 6 a.m. to a report of an injured man on the east side of the Rosslyn Inn & Suites near 137 Avenue and 97 Street. Police were then called to the scene.

The man had suffered significant injuries was transported to hospital where he later died, said Det. Margaret Raposo at the scene Wednesday morning.

“We would like to ask the public for any dash cam video or anyone travelling southbound or northbound on 97 Street who have witnessed anything or has seen anything suspicious on their dash cam video between the hours of 4:30 this morning till 6 a.m.,” Raposo said.

Raposo said an autopsy has yet to be scheduled.

The east side of the hotel remained taped off late Wednesday morning as investigators continued to comb the scene. Evidence markers were placed around the cordoned off area, which included two tarps placed between pylons.
