The province reported 144 new cases and two additional deaths on Friday, bringing the total to 230. The bulk of Alberta’s 1,144 active cases were represented in the Edmonton Zone, which reported 676. The area is considered a hotspot because of the recent rise in infections.
The North Zone reported 10 new cases from Thursday, bringing the total to 110. Central Zone, 30, and South Zone, 28, all had minor decreases. Calgary Zone remains at 294. Six cases are currently unknown.
The province doesn’t report new numbers over the weekends.
The City of Edmonton continues to be on the province’s watch list. The city has an active case rate of 59.5 per 100,000 people and had 608 cases as of Friday.
