Kindness at U of A emergency

Last week, my husband and I spent two days in the U of A emergency department. Along with the outstanding medical care, there was an aura of loving kindness and equality to all patients and their families.

The patients were from all walks of life: rich, poor, young, old, black, brown, yellow and white. All patients were treated equally with respect and timely medical attention. The U of A emergency staff shared with us their reality of how all lives matter. A remarkable healing experience

We’ll need fossil fuels for decades

Re. “It’s time to evolve beyond the oilsands,” Letters, Sept. 1

The fact is that the world needs more of Alberta’s oil, and less from corrupt nations like Iran, Saudi Arabia, or Venezuela.

At present, and maybe for the next 50 years, we will continue to need oil and natural gas, not just for transportation, but for manufacturing the many products that the modern economy requires.

Ontario’s experience with green energy was a disaster. It turns out that green technologies don’t run on wind and solar. They run on government subsidies. Until we are ready to accept nuclear options, and until a hydrogen fuel cell is cost-effective, oil and natural gas will be vital to Alberta’s and Canada’s economy.

Where is experts’ report on recovery?

Where is the Alberta Economic Recovery Report from Jason Kenney’s hand-picked panel of “experts?” Did it offer any revenue solutions to the collapse of oil prices? Did it propose a provincial sales tax? Is the report being suppressed for political reasons?

Taxpayers footed the bill for this report and I, for one, want to see it.
