Edmonton firefighters are battling a blaze in Edmonton’s south side that may have spread from the deck to the house.
Seven units responded to a large house fire along Running Creek Lane around 1:40 p.m. Monday. Edmonton Fire Services spokeswoman Brittany Lewchuck said everyone was safely evacuated.
“One person was assessed on-scene by EMS but was OK,” she said.
Lewchuck said it appears the fire started on the deck before spreading to the home but an official cause won’t be known until fire inspectors conduct an investigation.
Crews were able to bring it under control just after 2 p.m.
This was the second big fire crews responded to Monday. Firefighters were called about a garage fire spreading to a home near 72 Street and 81 Avenue around 10:40 a.m. That fire was brought under control just after 1 p.m.
Lewchuck said it make take inspectors a bit longer to provide reports on both fires but believes those will be ready by Tuesday.
