Edmonton man charged with second degree murder as 68-year-old man dies after attack on 118 Avenue

A 23-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after a man was found injured near a 118 Avenue bus stop.

Officers responded to reports of the injured man near 118 Avenue and 42 Street at approximately 4 a.m. on Aug. 22. EMS took the man to hospital where he died from his injuries, a news release issued later that day stated.

Russel William Storoschuk, 68, was killed after an unprovoked attack, police said in a news release Tuesday. An autopsy confirmed his death was a homicide and he died from blunt force trauma.

After receiving surveillance footage from a business in the area police were able to identify a suspect.

Darrelly David Taylor, 23, was taken into custody on Saturday and has since been charged with second-degree murder.
