In all the perfervid reporting this week (Victor Davis Hanson calls this “concocted melodramas”) there are only three big stories to my mind: The President’s stunning success in the Middle East, Secretary of Education Betsy De Vos’ brilliant parlay to Princeton’s virtue-signaling president and the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Each of these are likely to further tip Trump toward an election victory in which according to Rasmussen he’s already reached 53% approval among likely voters. The Middle East
(Snip) The President, defying the conventional wisdom of decades of big thinkers in foreign policy establishments here and in Europe, offered the Palestinians their last best hope for peace.
On Tuesday, Chinese virologist Dr. Li-Meng Yan, told Tucker Carlson of Fox News that the coronavirus was “created in the lab” and “intentionally” released by the Chinese Communist Party to “make damage” around the world. That revelation bears stark contrast to Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and a member of the White House coronavirus task force. Back in May, Fauci went on record that the coronavirus “could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated — the way the mutations have naturally evolved.” Dr. Fauci was quite sure of himself, even though his bio shows no advanced degrees in molecular biology.
the Media and Re-Elect Donald Trump 10 replies
As the saying goes, the difference between the New York Times and the old Soviet Pravda is that Pravda readers knew they were being lied to.
To circumvent the Soviet mainstream media, dissidents created what they called the “samizdat,” their word for the clandestine copying and distribution of literature banned by the state.
To circumvent our mainstream media, conservatives have created their own samizdat, an unorganized network of blogs, public forums, news-aggregators, online publications, talk radio shows, citizen-journalists, and legal monitors such as Judicial Watch, a truth force that one Second Amendment blogger aptly called “a coalition of willing Lilliputians.”

Success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan, an old adage says. An exception is the peace agreement among Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, likely to be followed by several other Arab states. (Snip) America’s boisterous president trampled over the conventional wisdom of the whole foreign policy establishment in the United States as well as Europe, and in both the “left” and “right” wings of American policymaking.
The Europeans and most of the Democratic Party insisted that a resolution of the Palestinian statehood issue was a precondition for peace, while the Bush-McCain-Romney wing of the Republican party insisted that American influence required massive military deployment in the region.
When hearing talk of Democrats’ war on blacks, some may think of the 92 percent of black homicide victims murdered by other blacks mainly in Democrat-run cities. Others may ponder the 300,000 black babies killed yearly in the womb with the approval, sometimes tacit, sometimes more overt, of many white liberals. Yet there’s another front in this war, one more recently opened and far more insidious. When President Trump early this month ordered an end to mandatory “Critical Race Theory” (CRT) training in the federal bureaucracy — which sometimes involved compelling white male employees to write letters of apology to “marginalized” people — he was, predictably, called a “racist.”
Like all progressive groups, The Satanic Temple came out in support of Black Lives Matter. The Satanic Temple, which distinguishes itself from its rival, The Church of Satan, through its rigorously progressive politics while accusing The Church of Satan of libertarianism, put out a statement by co-founder Lucien Greaves that blasted President Trump and accused the police of randomly killing black people that could have come from any random leftist organization. (Snip) While Republicans have been asked to disavow fringe candidates who run on their party line, Democrats haven’t been asked to disavow Hill or the political support of Satanists.

Detroit Will Breathe, the Motor City’s BLM franchisee, won a hollow victory last week when a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order that bars Detroit police from using certain non-lethal tactics on “peaceful protesters.” Detroit police chief James Craig responded to the TRO with a shrug. It changes nothing, he told reporters, because that’s how his department always handles peaceful protesters. “Every time we’ve had to use less-than-lethal force, it’s been to address violence by protesters, resisting arrest, or when they’ve tried to take over an intersection in violation of the law.”

Thunder shattered the evening quiet and lightning lit up the sky outside my office. I stayed at my computer feeling secure that the surge protector would manage the extra load. Suddenly my screen lit up with a strange message: Speaker Pelosi: This is Mother Earth and you’ve defamed me, something I will not tolerate. This week you said, “Mother earth is angry. She’s telling us with hurricanes on the Gulf Coast, fires in the West, whatever it is… the climate crisis is real and has an impact.” How dare you speak in my name? How dare you defame me to deflect from the miscalculations and loony policies of your California Democrat colleagues?
post-election insurrection 4 replies
Last week, I predicted that, if Trump has a clear victory on November 3, any uprisings after the election will be of short duration because Trump will have a clear path to end them. On Thursday, Trump confirmed that this is what he intends to do. My post came about because I was thinking about the Democrats’ threat that, if the election result is anything but an overwhelming victory for Biden, they will take to the streets in orgies of violence. They are also threatening to overthrow the usual processes of the Electoral College by sending Democrat party electors even if the state has broken for Trump on election day.

In case anyone still thinks it is, the COVID-19 pandemic is not a hoax. How and why it originated may never be known for certain. How societies ought to respond to it, and who are most vulnerable to the disease, are both topics of intense debate. But deaths in America from all causes are up year-to-date by over 200,000 compared to recent years, and while we may hope the worst is behind us, this is not over. The single most authoritative source for statistics on deaths in the United States is the CDC website, and a way to eliminate any doubt about the cause of death
The Atlantic does it Again The Atlantic published a tale based on anonymous sources that the President referred to veterans who had lost their lives in battles as “ suckers” and losers” and refused to go to a French cemetery honoring WWI American veterans because he feared his hair would be mussed. The magazine is now majority owned by Steve Jobs’s very rich widow, Laurene, who contributed $500,000 to the Biden campaign and who seems to have reshaped it as the Biden sleazy propaganda arm . It previously published a pro-defund the police article — supposedly a firsthand account of witnessing a police officer shoot an unarmed youngster
Course on ‘How to Overthrow the State’ 25 replies
Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, is offering a course entitled “How to Overthrow the State,” which includes encouraging students to engage in “producing a Manifesto,” and “writing a persuasive essay on rewriting history and confronting memory.” A course being offered at Washington and Lee for the fall semester focuses on encouraging students to think of ways they can “overthrow a sitting government,” according to the course description on the university’s website. “This course places each student at the head of a popular revolutionary movement aiming to overthrow a sitting government and forge a better society,” reads the course description.
