COVID-19: 76 new cases, three new deaths announced Thursday

“At this point, we haven’t identified any one particular area of concern that seems to be driving this new case rise,” said Hinshaw. “If we do identify (an outbreak) our first step would always be, as it has been for many months now, to work collaboratively and to make sure that we’re looking at what are all the things that we can do to limit the spread.”

The Calgary zone currently has 314 active cases. Northern Alberta and central Alberta have 104 and 88 cases, respectively. Southern Alberta has 52 cases. There are currently three cases with no known location.

There have been 11,969 cases in Alberta throughout the pandemic with 10,713 people having recovered. COVID-19 has been attributed to 220 deaths in the province.

Currently, there are 50 people in hospital, 12 of whom are in intensive care.

Across Canada there have been 121,234 confirmed cases of COVID-19. A total of 9,015 people have died, show latest numbers from Health Canada. Globally there have been 20,439,814 confirmed cases and 744,385 deaths, the World Health Organization reports.
