One day after rioters destroyed the Sports Dome retail complex in St. Paul, a construction crew hired by the city knocked the building down because it was dangerously unstable. Then the city presented the property owners with a $140,000 bill for what it would cost to haul away the debris. “We were really upset about that,” said property owner Jay Kim, whose insurance policy covers a maximum of $25,000 in demolition costs. “We thought that was high. But we didn’t know how much demolition would cost at the time...

Full Disclosure: I possess three degrees in Education, including a Ph.D. But it doesn’t take degrees in education, or any field for that matter, to know the difference between right and wrong. Now that I am homeschooling two elementary-school-aged family members (who are not my children) as their schools and surrounding districts have chosen to be locked down for no health-related reason, I have had a chance to see inside their Central-Ohio elementary school dynamic and watch their teachers in action, within an online environment...

Edmonton weather: Double checked and nope, no snow for a while

Article content

A look at today’s Edmonton weather by Environment Canada.

Monday morning temperatures at the Edmonton Blatchford station measured 4 C with 4 km/h winds out of the south, southwest.

I didn’t see any frost outside this morning but I still tossed a blanket over a bunch of stuff last night out in the garden.

There’s lots of sunshine in the forecast and the temps are cooling off but it’s still nice out.

Sure it gets a little chilly at night now but I’m not ready to go full “FIRE UP THE FURNACE” yet.

Just no one say the snow and we will be fine…wait.

Today’s forecast

Today:Mainly sunny. Wind becoming west 20 km/h gusting to 40 near noon. High 18. UV index 6 or high.

Tonight:Partly cloudy. Becoming cloudy this evening...

The officer who shot Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, has been tried and convicted by Democrats, the media, and truth-be-damned activists before the case is resolved. It’s a mirror image of the Michael Brown shooting (the officer was cleared) in Ferguson, Missouri, and the death in Minneapolis of George Floyd (the officer has yet to go to trial). The difference is this time, pro athletes, pampered and well-paid, joined the mob.
They should be ashamed of their behavior...

‘It’s shocking’: Coronation recreation centre will need additional $46 million to host international sporting events as planned

‘Disappointing and frustrating’

Area Ward 2 Coun. Bev Esslinger said she was shocked to learn of this change in price because the approved budget was intended to cover all of the amenities. Planning for the new rec centre next to the Peter Hemingway Fitness and Leisure Centre dates back to 2007 and has involved significant consultation from neighbouring communities and local sports associations.

“When they redid the analysis, it’s $46 million more than originally anticipated, which is really disappointing because the community has been waiting for this for a long time. This has been a long project,” Esslinger said in an interview with Postmedia Sunday.

“I don’t understand how we can be off that much because the programming intent has not changed...

Six Democrat mayors in the swing-state of Minnesota formally endorsed President Donald Trump for a second term on Friday while taking shots at Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden. The letter mainly highlighted economic issues as being the primary driver for the Democrat mayors’ endorsement, but it also noted that the party has gone “so far to the left” that they no longer “recognize” it, and that the party “left” them.“Today, we write to formally endorse President Donald J...

“The task force would give the community more direct oversight of the evolution to a more holistic approach to community safety in Edmonton.”

If approved, the task force will consist of 10 community members appointed by city council, an independent chairperson, two members of the Edmonton Police Service appointed by Chief Dale McFee, two City of Edmonton staff and one member of the Edmonton Police Commission.

A third-party recruiting firm will be hired to recruit and interview the community member candidates to ensure a range of residents receive an opportunity to join the task force. Recommendations will then be made to city council for approval.
